Five of My Favourite Scriptures About Waiting

One thing I have noticed about life is most of the time we are waiting for something. Whether it is waiting for spring to come. Waiting to find love. Waiting to start a family. Waiting for an admissions letter. We do a lot of waiting. Sometimes the waiting is excruciating… Thinking about the what if’s. We can only do the best we can do and wait for the result. Sometimes it is comforting to know that we are waiting for a reason. God has a plan. We can pray to God and give him our specific timeline but most of the time our plan and his do not line up. Some of these scriptures have gotten me through the lowest of lows. Hopefully they will be of some comfort to you. What have you been waiting for? Let me know in a pm or the comments.

D&C 121: 7-8

7 My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;

8 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.

9 Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands.

James 1:2-4

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

D&C 123:17

17 Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.

Isiah 40:31

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew theirstrength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Matthew 23:42

42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

  1. This is a lesson that has taken me years to learn. I thought I was a patient person until we started on our adoption journey 3+ years ago. I have learned so much and see Gods hand in everything that has happened. I now know there was a reason why I could’nt physically have anymore children. I have tried my best to will everything MY way and that got me nowhere. I have stopped trying to do that and have let things go that are out of my control. I am now waiting on the Lord with an open mind and heart. Thanks for these awesome scriptures- I needed them today.

    1. Thank you for sharing Adie! You are a wonderful example to us. I pray for you and your family constantly to have peace going through the adoption process. Sometimes it is one of the hardest things to trust Gods plan for us. The whole reason I started this blog was to hopefully uplift someone or help them in some way. I am glad you enjoyed the post and scriptures.
